Background
The La Pointe-Krebs House is the oldest standing structure in the American South. For centuries, it was the beating heart of a diverse, cross-cultural community. If your ancestors settled, built, or lived in the Pascagoula River basin during the 18th or early 19th centuries, you are part of this living history.
We invite all verified descendants of early local families to join us for a dedicated Founders and Descendants Reception.
Registered descendants will receive a commemorative heritage pin, participate in our living diaspora map, and be honored during the public Ancestral Roll Call.

The La Pointe-Krebs Heritage Society
The La Pointe-Krebs House & Museum is excited to announce the creation of the La Pointe-Krebs Heritage Society, a new program designed to celebrate the families whose lives are intertwined with the history of one of Mississippi's oldest homes.
Initially, descendant membership will be open to individuals who can trace a direct line of descent from the LaPointe, Krebs, or Gravaline families, with plans to expand as additional family connections are researched and documented.
To become a member, applicants will complete a membership form and submit a simple direct lineage beginning with themselves and working back generation by generation. The lineage will list each parent-child relationship and marriage, creating a clear ancestral line without the need for extensive documentation or proof packets.
Members will receive:
An official La Pointe-Krebs Heritage Society certificate.
A commemorative Heritage Society lapel pin.
Recognition in the museum's growing Heritage Society descendant registry.
The opportunity to become part of a living community dedicated to preserving the history of the La Pointe-Krebs House and the families connected to it.
A membership fee will help support the museum's ongoing preservation efforts while funding genealogy research, educational programming, and the continued development of the Heritage Society.
As the program grows, the museum also plans to expand its genealogy resources, creating a collection of family histories, translated records, photographs, maps, and historical documents that visitors and descendants can explore for generations to come.
The La Pointe-Krebs Heritage Society is more than a membership—it's an opportunity to help preserve nearly three centuries of Gulf Coast history while connecting descendants with the remarkable stories of those who came before them.
